Steel crossbow prods

Hi Having trouble finding a prod steel prod here in Canada
     Talked to a local spring shop and they have blank
 springs with no hole in the center
the small sizes they have are 1/4" thick x 2 " wide and 3/16 ' thick
 X 1 3/4 wide
Any reason these can be used ??
Also what profile would you shape them to get a  appox 140 lb
  prod
 Any help would be appreciated
